The master set counts 110 Normal and 20 Holofoil. No card comes in more than one of them, so the master set is the same size as the full set. It leaves out 1 W Stamp.

Base Set 2 brought together a selection of cards from Base Set and Jungle in a single English-only expansion. It was designed as an accessible entry point for newer players at the height of Pokémon’s early popularity, reintroducing familiar evolution lines, Trainer cards, and major holographic Pokémon without requiring collectors to find the original releases. Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Alakazam, and the three Eeveelutions all return, giving the set the feel of an early greatest-hits collection.

MoreLess

The expansion has no direct Japanese counterpart and is easily recognized by the number 2 in its set symbol. It also introduced the cosmos-style holographic pattern to English Pokémon cards, giving its foils a noticeably different appearance from earlier cards. Although collectors often prioritize the original versions, Base Set 2 has developed an identity of its own through its distinctive holofoil and smaller print presence. It captures the first era of the game in a single, approachable checklist and offers alternative cards of many of Pokémon’s most iconic vintage cards.
