The master set counts each of its 80 cards once, in any card. It leaves out 55 First Edition, 55 Unlimited, 25 First Edition Holofoil and 25 Unlimited Holofoil.

Tidal Storm provides the oceanic counterpart to Gaia Volcano, led by Primal Kyogre and the sea-expanding power associated with Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. Water imagery, storms, and Ancient Traits give the set a flowing but destructive identity. Released in 2014, it gives that theme a clear place within the wider era.

Primal Kyogre-EX is the central chase card, while Mega Gardevoir-EX and premium full-art treatments broaden the collector appeal. The mix of dramatic transformations and bright full-card artwork gives the set an unmistakable mid-2010s identity. Beyond the best-known cards, smaller illustrations and evolution lines help complete the atmosphere of the release. That consistency gives the expansion a recognisable personality even when viewed apart from the competitive decks of its time. Its cards were merged with Gaia Volcano for the English Primal Clash expansion, where the two Japanese themes became one larger release.
