The master set counts each of its 59 cards once, in any card. It leaves out 42 First Edition, 42 Unlimited, 17 First Edition Holofoil and 17 Unlimited Holofoil.

Fever-Burst Fighter, released in 2016, takes the fiery side of the Steam Siege card pool, led by Volcanion and an industrial mixture of heat, pressure, and Metal-type power. Dual-type Pokémon return as a visual and mechanical link to earlier eras of the game.

Volcanion-EX and its full-art version are the best-known cards, supported by Mega Evolution and BREAK treatments. It represents the final stage of the XY design before the game moved to Pokémon-GX. The expansion therefore works well as a self-contained binder project as well as a chapter in the wider history of the game. Its mixture of familiar Pokémon and period-specific presentation makes the full checklist more revealing than a glance at the chase cards alone. Fever-Burst Fighter was combined with Cruel Traitor to form the English Steam Siege expansion, where the two contrasting Japanese themes share one checklist.
