Facing a New Trial continues Alola’s island challenge with new trial Pokémon, captains, and guardians presented in a compact follow-up release. The set strengthens the link between the card game and the region’s characters rather than introducing a completely separate storyline. Released in 2017, it gives that theme a clear place within the wider era. Its smaller enhanced-expansion format gives the card list a tighter theme than the era’s main releases.
