Released in 2017, Darkness that Consumes Light provides the ominous counterpart to Battle Rainbow, led by Necrozma-GX and imagery in which light is absorbed or overwhelmed. Darker Alolan locations and powerful Psychic or Darkness Pokémon give the set a tense, cosmic atmosphere.

MoreLess

Necrozma-GX and Darkrai-GX lead the premium card group, joined by full-art Supporters and rainbow rare Pokémon-GX. The artwork frequently links Pokémon to Alola’s characters, locations, and larger stories. The result reads coherently in a binder, with recurring subjects and visual ideas linking everyday cards to the rarer highlights. It also provides a useful snapshot of the design, storytelling, and collecting priorities that shaped this period of the Japanese game. Beyond the best-known cards, smaller illustrations and evolution lines help complete the atmosphere of the release. Its checklist was merged with Battle Rainbow and Facing a New Trial for the English Burning Shadows expansion.
