Released in 2010, Black Collection launches the Unova era with Reshiram, new fifth-generation Pokémon, and a clean visual reset for the game. It introduces the first Japanese full-art Pokémon cards and establishes many of the generation’s central evolution lines.

Reshiram’s full-art card is the defining collector piece, supported by the Unova starters and a large group of newly introduced species. Its clean black-border full arts helped define how premium Pokémon cards would look for years afterward. The result reads coherently in a binder, with recurring subjects and visual ideas linking everyday cards to the rarer highlights. It also provides a useful snapshot of the design, storytelling, and collecting priorities that shaped this period of the Japanese game. Most cards were combined with White Collection for the English Black & White expansion, while some appeared later in Emerging Powers.
