Sun & Moon—Guardians Rising explores Alola’s island guardians and the challenges faced while travelling between its distinct environments. Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Fini appear alongside Lycanroc, Alolan Ninetales, Kommo-o, and many Pokémon associated with the region’s trials. Beaches, mountains, ruins, and island settlements give the set a strong sense of movement across Alola. Its card pool combines Japan’s Sun & Moon, Islands Await You, and Alolan Moonlight into one larger English expansion.

MoreLess

Tapu Lele-GX became the expansion’s most influential card, offering powerful deck consistency and appearing in regular, full-art, and rainbow rare versions. Lycanroc-GX, Alolan Ninetales-GX, and Metagross-GX provide additional collector and gameplay highlights, while secret rare energies and Trainers expand the premium rarity range. The set is larger and strategically deeper than the series opener, introducing many cards that shaped competitive play for years. Guardians Rising succeeds as both a regional tour and a major gameplay release. Its four guardian deities create a natural collecting group, while the combination of popular Alolan Pokémon and long-lasting staples has made it one of the most significant early Sun & Moon expansions.
