Sun & Moon—Burning Shadows brings together volcanic heat, mysterious darkness, and Pokémon connected to Alola’s more dangerous corners. Ho-Oh, Marshadow, Necrozma, and Tapu Fini headline the legendary lineup, while Salazzle, Golisopod, and Alolan forms reinforce the region’s identity. Fiery landscapes and shadowed scenes create a dramatic contrast that suits the expansion’s title. The English release brings together cards from Japan’s Facing a New Trial, To Have Seen the Battle Rainbow, and Darkness that Consumes Light in a single checklist.

MoreLess

The rainbow rare Charizard-GX is the defining collector card and one of the most recognizable chases of the Sun & Moon era. Ho-Oh-GX, Marshadow-GX, Necrozma-GX, and Gardevoir-GX add a strong group of Pokémon-GX, with several also appearing as full arts and rainbow rares. Full-art Supporters such as Acerola and Guzma became popular with both players and collectors, and Guzma was especially important in competitive decks. Burning Shadows is remembered largely for Charizard, but the set’s broader appeal comes from its mixture of Alolan characters, mythicals, and useful Trainers. It captures the more intense side of the island journey and gives the early GX era one of its clearest high-end chase cards.
