Detective Pikachu is a compact special expansion tied directly to the live-action film. Its eighteen cards use photorealistic artwork based on the movie’s designs, presenting familiar Pokémon as creatures inhabiting the streets, laboratories, and forests of Ryme City. Detective Pikachu, Charizard, Mewtwo, Greninja, and Mr. Mime are among the recognizable characters, while smaller Pokémon help recreate scenes and humour from the story. Japan later received the 25-card Movie Special Pack Great Detective Pikachu, a larger promotional counterpart to the 18-card English set.
