Sun & Moon—Crimson Invasion brings the Ultra Beasts into the TCG, presenting strange visitors from other dimensions as a new category of Pokémon. Buzzwole, Guzzlord, Kartana, Nihilego, and other Ultra Beasts appear alongside Silvally and the forces attempting to understand or contain them. Red skies, Ultra Wormholes, and unfamiliar landscapes give the set an appropriately alien atmosphere. Its card pool combines Japan’s Awakened Heroes and Ultradimensional Beasts into one larger English expansion.

Guzzlord-GX, Nihilego-GX, Buzzwole-GX, and Kartana-GX establish the Ultra Beast identity, while Silvally-GX serves as an important connection to the Aether Foundation storyline. Full-art and rainbow rare versions provide the main collector targets, joined by character cards such as Lusamine and Gladion. Several Ultra Beast cards also became significant in competitive play, helping the new group feel mechanically distinct rather than purely narrative. Crimson Invasion is more focused on world-building than nostalgia, using an unusual roster and science-fiction imagery to expand what a Pokémon set could look like. It marks the point where Alola’s island adventure opens into a wider and stranger multiverse.
