The master set counts each of its 48 cards once, in any card. It leaves out 40 First Edition, 40 Unlimited, 8 First Edition Holofoil and 8 Unlimited Holofoil.

Pokémon Card★web, released in 2001, reprints selected cards from the original Japanese era in the transitional e-Card frame, pairing familiar artwork with a radically different border and layout. The compact checklist includes popular Pokémon, Dark Pokémon, and cards that had become difficult to obtain.

Its unusual online-order distribution and mix of old illustrations with new presentation make it one of the most distinctive vintage Japanese releases. It also serves as a bridge between the original card style and the experimental e-Card period. It also provides a useful snapshot of the design, storytelling, and collecting priorities that shaped this period of the Japanese game. Beyond the best-known cards, smaller illustrations and evolution lines help complete the atmosphere of the release. Several cards later appeared internationally through different products, but the set itself has no direct English counterpart.
