The master set counts 138 Reverse Holofoil, 122 Normal, 42 Holofoil and 1 more card once each, in any card. It leaves out 8 Cosmos Holofoil, 7 Normal sold outside booster packs, 5 Diego Cassiraga, 5 League Stamp and 43 more in 18 other printings.

XY—BREAKthrough introduces Pokémon BREAK, a new evolution placed sideways across the top of an existing Pokémon card. These gold-coloured cards retain the earlier Pokémon’s attacks and Abilities while adding new power, creating a visible sense of transformation. Zoroark BREAK, Raichu BREAK, and Chesnaught BREAK provide early examples, while Mewtwo dominates the wider expansion through several Pokémon-EX and Mega Evolution cards. For the international market, cards from Japan’s Legendary Shine Collection, Blue Shock, and Red Flash were merged into this expansion.

Mega Mewtwo X-EX and Mega Mewtwo Y-EX are the main collector attractions, supported by full-art versions and two different battle styles. Houndoom-EX, Glalie-EX, and several character cards add variety, while the BREAK mechanic gives evolved single-Prize Pokémon a way to compete with Pokémon-EX. The set also draws from the story and locations of Pokémon X and Y, including the mysterious power associated with Mewtwo and the Kalos region. BREAKthrough marks the beginning of the late XY era, replacing Ancient Traits with a visually striking evolution concept and placing one of Pokémon’s most iconic legends at the centre of the transition.
