Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift introduces Ancient and Future Pokémon, two groups inspired by creatures from Paldea’s distant past and possible future. Roaring Moon, Scream Tail, Brute Bonnet, and other Ancient Pokémon contrast with Iron Valiant, Iron Hands, Iron Moth, and their mechanical counterparts. Distinct card labels and visual styles make the two factions immediately recognizable, turning the expansion into a clash across time. Its card pool combines Japan’s Raging Surf, Ancient Roar, and Future Flash into one larger English expansion.

MoreLess

Roaring Moon ex and Iron Valiant ex are the main collector centrepieces, while Iron Hands ex became especially influential in competitive play. Ancient and Future Trainer cards support their respective strategies, allowing the theme to shape complete decks rather than remain a naming convention. Illustration rares and special illustration rares explore both prehistoric wilderness and futuristic laboratories, with cards such as Groudon and several Paradox Pokémon standing out. Technical Machine cards also return as Pokémon Tools that temporarily provide attacks. Paradox Rift gives the Scarlet & Violet series its first major mechanical expansion, combining a strong narrative contrast with two flexible families of cards that continue into later sets.
