Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames combines the intensity of Fire-type Pokémon with the mystery of Darkness-type Pokémon. Mega Charizard X ex and Mega Gengar ex lead the expansion, supported by Mega Sharpedo ex and other powerful Pokémon drawn from flames, shadows, and haunted settings. The contrast between blue fire, ghostly energy, and deep darkness gives the set a dramatic identity distinct from the brighter opening expansion. Its main Japanese source is Inferno X, supplemented by cards from other products for the English release.

MoreLess

Mega Charizard X ex is the clear collector centrepiece, appearing in multiple premium versions that highlight its black body and blue flames. Mega Gengar ex provides an equally recognizable counterpart, while Mega Sharpedo ex adds a more aggressive Darkness strategy. Ultra rare Mega Evolution cards continue the series’ visual style, sometimes including silhouettes of the Pokémon’s original forms within the artwork. Illustration rares and special illustration rares give supporting Pokémon and Trainers their own full-scene highlights. Phantasmal Flames uses two of the franchise’s most popular Pokémon to establish the series’ darker side, combining high-risk three-Prize Mega Pokémon with artwork built around fire, fear, and supernatural power.
