Black & White—Next Destinies marks a major power shift with the return of Pokémon-EX. These high-HP Basic Pokémon offer strong attacks but give up two Prize cards when Knocked Out, immediately changing both deck construction and the pace of competitive play. Mewtwo-EX leads the expansion, joined by Reshiram-EX, Zekrom-EX, Kyurem-EX, Regigigas-EX, and other legendary or fully evolved favourites. For the international market, cards from Japan’s Psycho Drive and Hail Blizzard were merged into this expansion.

MoreLess

Mewtwo-EX is the defining card, appearing in regular and full-art versions and becoming one of the most influential attackers of its era. The set also introduces full-art Pokémon-EX as a major collector category, establishing a rarity structure that would continue throughout Black & White and beyond. Secret rare alternate-coloured Pokémon, including Emboar and Chandelure, add another chase layer. The title suggests a transition into a new competitive future, and the expansion delivers exactly that: single-Prize evolution decks now have to contend with powerful Basic Pokémon capable of deciding games quickly. Next Destinies is remembered as the point where the modern EX-driven format truly began.
